Our Story...

Founded by a husband-and-wife team whose story began during Wednesday night sailboat races in Charleston Harbor, Holy City Sail Bags was born from a lifelong connection to the water and a passion for craftsmanship. We remain actively involved in the local sailing community that first brought us together.

Our background in custom boat upholstery has given us a deep appreciation for durable materials, quality construction, and attention to detail. Combined with years of experience on the water—including being a licensed 100-ton sailing captain—we understand both the beauty and functionality that define life under sail.

Each bag is handcrafted from locally sourced reclaimed sails, giving new life to materials that once navigated Charleston’s waterways and beyond. The unique textures, stitching, weathering, and authentic sail details found in every piece ensure that no two bags are ever exactly alike.

By transforming retired sails into distinctive, functional bags, we preserve a small piece of maritime history while creating products designed for everyday adventures. Every Holy City Sail Bag carries a story—of wind, water, craftsmanship, and the sailing community that continues to inspire us.
